A Beautiful Bit of My Life Adventure- A Gift!

Hiya and welcome to my blog. I would love for you to read along as I share some of my life adventure with you!

Let me first take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Elizabeth, and I am a wife, and a mother to our four young children. Life is a bit chaotic at times, most times, but I am so thankful for each messy moment.

~What Can I expect to find on Cotswold Kitchen Mom? ~

If you are finding my blog for the first time, let me extend a warm welcome to you now. I suppose before I let you in on a bit of my life adventure, I should tell you what you can expect from my blog posts.

Generally, my blog is a creative space where I share many aspects of my family life. Certainly, you can expect to find English recipes, DIY crafts, thrifted home decor, and homeschool lessons.

I sincerely hope that you find this blog to be inspiring and encouraging.

Now that we are friends, let me tell you a bit more about my life adventure that inspired/inspires my blog topics.

~My Life Adventure Begins: ~

Let me rewind a little here. Before marriage and children, I was a high school home economics teacher. I absolutely loved teaching, but eventually, it was time to leave the classroom. So, I went out in search of a grand adventure. And it was during this time that I met my husband, Craig.

Craig was the handsome English cousin of two of my girl students. He happened to be in America visiting them at the time, and naturally they thought we should meet. After basically telling him to… “Go back across the pond!”, he found me on Facebook and the rest is history.

No really, there were lots of sweet details that I am leaving out here, but basically, he sent me flowers from England, and he asked me for just one date. I could not possibly say no to that, now, could I? Afterall, I could not recall having had any other offers to fly four thousand miles just to take me on one date.

So that settled that.

~The Adventure of Marriage and an International Move~

Fast forward a year and we were happily married. I then moved to England, where we lived for a little over two years. Our oldest daughter was born in Oxford, England. (To read a bit about that adventure, as well as my earliest ties with England, click here:).

~How My Life Adventure Led Me to Living Near the Cotswolds~

During our time living in England, we were stationed on the outskirts of the iconic “Cotswold” villages. Here, I was immersed in the English culture. I quickly grew to appreciate its many unique and varied traditions.

Even though I had lived in many places, living in England was a unique experience. Often, I felt as if I was a “little sponge”-picking up on all the lovely differences and similarities.

Obviously, the culture and food played a big part in me wanting to create my blog. Indeed, it is my time spent in England (and my English husband), that has been the main inspiration behind my blog posts.

~Back in America: Another Life Adventure~

Fast forward again, and we returned to live in America. I have since made it a goal to bring many of those English traditions into our American English home. Melding our heritage(s) has been a team effort with my husband and has been for the benefit of our family and our children.

This cross-cultural marrying of ideas can be seen in our home… from our homeschool lessons, to our English-inspired recipes, to our home’s décor, and even in our thrifting purchases.

It is my sincere hope that this blog brings encouragement to any reader (but especially Moms/Mums). Cotswold Kitchen Mom is also a means to share creative, wholesome ideas that promote family time, unity, love, and special traditions.

~How to Follow Along and Learn More of My Adventure~

Finally, I will conclude this post by inviting you all to join me, and my family, for many more exciting adventures. Let us strive together to make ordinary things lovely.

Please subscribe to my blog and feel free to share my post with those who may enjoy learning about English and American cultures.

Our wedding cake with a union jack grooms' cake to the side. Again, a cake to celebrate the start of our life adventure together.
A wooden heart on a tabletop. My husband made this treasure to me. A reminder of our love and commitment to each other on this life adventure.
